This 19.February.2020 article is an interview with  two University of Pennsylvania professors about "science's" attempts to explain cats' behaviors. In an effort to popularize their research, Professors James Serpell & Carlo Siracusa co-wrote Decoding Your Cat (July, 2020, Harvest).

From Amazon's page:

Written by the leading experts in cat behavior from the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists, with an introduction by animal expert Steve Dale, this book conveys the newest and best information on cat behavioral science in a fun, interesting, and understandable way. Together with anecdotes from real life situations and the science behind how cats relate to their world, Decoding Your Cat empowers owners to provide a home environment that is happy, safe, and functional, to identify and seek treatment for medical health problems, to understand how to deal with unwanted behaviors, and in general to help cats live longer and fuller lives.

Toni's Workout

On Smirkets (black cats),the poochie parts from which their whiskers grow are called peats; on other cats they're called spliffoes. Regardless of type, cats "zoom" things to keep their peats or spliffoes in shape. Anything that serves the purpose is called a "zooming iron."

In this sequence, Rigatoni shows us how it's done.

Belle

Belle has an exceedingly charming and relentlessly Tttttttttender personality.

We had a lovely schmoozefest and she shared a generous amount of fur with me.  We looked like twins by the time I left.

Abbey

This is Abby, Persian Tort and champion eater, in spite of (presumably) not having a sense of taste or smell due to nasal cancer surgery years ago.

Abby relishes special service.  She expects a Lackey to stand by while she eats and continually rearrange her mush so it's in the center of her bowl.

She and her siblings, Hannah and Isaac, usually eat on the kitchen counter where they have a cat fountain.  Abby oh-so-casually drags her tail through the water, then turns around and splashes Isaac in the face.  Hannah eats and runs, so she usually avoids this "accident".

Is there really a face here?
